Group Therapies
There are two main categories of group therapy: Psychoeducational/skills groups and counseling/process groups. In a skills groups, the group leader presents and leads the group in learning new skills or interventions. In process or counseling groups, the group leader facilitates interactions between group members, where members are able to build awareness and try new ways of being through interactions with other group members. Counseling groups may include group members who struggle with the same challenge, sharing their struggles and successes. Sharing in a skills/psychoeducational groups is not as crucial as learning new skills.
Running Bird Therapies offers two skills groups at this time. The Morning Sit, a mindfulness group, and Freak Out a distress tolerance/ emotional regulation skills group.
